I'm working on a blog post about my experience during Whirlpool Building Blocks, but I'm having trouble capturing the event in a way that does it justice. I'm not sure anything I write will come close to the emotional high that results after 200+ volunteers successfully build nine homes in partnership with Habitat homeowners - in just five days.
Relating the moments that took my breath away is important and I want to get it right.
In the meantime, I do have photos to share from my last night in Texas. We did it up right. And by right, I mean, we wrestled, carted each other around on our backs, slow danced like we were in 8th grade, spit food and pretty much acted like children. With ADD.
Hellllooo Texas!
The motley crew. Christi's hand is on the verge of in-e-propriate. Seriously. I apologize to anyone who was eating dinner anywhere near us. Although, if memory serves, lots of you were laughing right along with us...or at us. Whatever...
This is what happens if Christi catches you having fun without her. Go Go Gadget Hand!
Lindsey and Christi lookin' like movie stars. Seriously.
Melissa and Brandy, my hostesses. Mints on my pillow and Diet Coke in the fridge. Ever day. No joke. I seriously contemplated moving in. Plus, their dogs let me kiss them on the teeth. Big selling point.
Samurai Brandice. I was spitting ice chunks at her and she defended herself with this knife. She was surprisingly good at it...

Melissa, Melissa's teeth, and Lindsey...
Melissa football clutching Lindsey (they both play professional woman's football - Lonestar Mustangs. So does Brandice. These girls are tough. Trust me. I know.)
One of the cutest couples in the big D. Christi isn't normally choking Brandice...
Brandice and I wrassled a lot. She thought she had me...
P-shaw. I showed her.
I finally got to meet Jen D!!!!
I just love this pic of Melissa:
Carting Christi 'round on my back:
This picture cracks me up. Brandy looks terrified that I'm going to leave her with THEM.
Eight grade dancing with Lindsey. Um, I've never felt quite so, um, short. The expression on the woman's face behind us is excellent. I think our height differential really bothered her...
Don't let her expression fool ya. She loves it.
Which shoe belongs in Virginia?
Good times, good times
Christi doesn't take photo direction well. We were SUPPOSED to all be sad about my departure the next morning...
Better. Much better.
Thanks for an awesome time, girls. Miss you and our door is always open. It IS your turn....

Oh my god. You have the worlds prettiest friends. EVER.
Looks like a FABULOUS time. Ya'll really know how to have fun!
heather..
them glasses are really IN yeah?
I mean.. look at you guys.. it's as if everyone has those eyewear!!! ahhaa..
btw.. i'm glad that the dogs permitted you to kiss their tiny weeny teeths.. I think it's the greatest honor for dogs to have their teeths planted with heather smooches.. hahahahaa
Ummm... I want mints and coffee when I come. The lady will have to do with out. Errr.... actually she will probably get mine anyway, that is how we work.
You must stop kissing dogs on the teeth, Heather. If you don't, your bum will drop off and your belly button wither. Stop it now.
Now, that was funny. Especially the 8th grade dance photo. How tall was that girl?
ya know batman, i think texas will never be the same. as far as snow, well it wasn't much. it came and went as fast as the green goblin. now back to the bat cave its cold out here...
